Turn Off Electronics

Take advantage of the fans’ ability to boost the reach of your cooling or heating unit and to circulate the cold or heat. A switch on the motor allows a fan to spin either clockwise or counterclockwise. To circulate cold air, run the fan on high in a counterclockwise direction on high. When you need heat, run the fan clockwise on low so that warm air is pulled away from the ceiling. Remember to turn the fans off when leaving the room to save on electricity.

Switch to LEDs

Most places have lots of light bulbs, so the fact that the LED (light-emitting diode) bulb is much more efficient than the CFL (compact fluorescent light) one can be quite a money saver. The average 60-watt equivalent LED uses only nine watts of electricity while the average CFL uses 13 watts. That is a 30% reduction in the usage of electricity for each LED bulb. LED light bulbs have dropped in price since they were first introduced even though they have the advantage of outlasting CFLs and making their additional price worth their while.
